Windows 7 is going End Of Life in less than 6 months. This is what that means to your business and the importance for a Windows Upgrade for Businesses in Belfast and Northern Ireland.
Windows 7 will become End Of Life on 14th January 2020 and it is important that businesses take action before this date.
What Is End Of Life?
End Of Life (EOL) is when software is no longer supported. Consequently, for Windows 7 this means it will no longer receive important security updates. It is also likely that many 3rd party software developers will stop supporting their software when used with Windows 7.
What Should I Do?
For those businesses still using Windows 7, it is important that these computers are either upgraded or replaced before the EOL date. Most machines running Windows 7 will be using older hardware so we are recommending replacing rather than upgrading.
What If I Don’t Want To Upgrade?
Unfortunately continuing to use Windows 7 could put you at risk. It is particularly important to upgrade with the recent surge in cybercrime and business fraud. Attackers are likely to take advantage of the situation and after January Windows 7 users will be high risk. No more updates will be issued for the operating system making it a desirable target.
What Version Of Windows Am I Using?
In the video I show how to identify your version of Windows from within the operating system itself. It is possible to tell from the look and style of the icons and also from system properties. Additionally, Microsoft will be rolling out an update which will inform users if they are Windows 7 users and advise that they take action. This update will start being sent out soon but may only be sent to users of the home versions of Windows.
